The new regulation prohibits parking between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on both sides of Santa Susana Pass Road from 220 feet northwest of Katherine Road to 75 feet east of Lilac Lane.

The action follows reports from the California Highway Patrol regarding a growing vehicle encampment in the area and complaints from nearby residents about overnight parking and camping in vehicles, and the accumulation of debris along the hillside. Ventura County Public Works Agency staff monitored the location and confirmed the presence of several recreational vehicles and trash buildup, which presents a potential fire risk. The overnight restriction is designed to address safety and environmental concerns while continuing to allow parking during daytime hours for recreational use.

“Public safety and community input were central to this decision,” stated Chair of the Board Jeff Gorell. “Residents raised serious concerns about safety, fire risk, and conditions along Santa Susana Pass Road, and this action responds to those concerns. At the same time, our outreach teams will continue engaging individuals in the area who may be experiencing homelessness and connecting them with available resources and support.”

The Board’s action reflects its ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, reliable infrastructure that meets the needs of communities across Ventura County. Installation of the required signage is expected to result in only nominal costs, which will be absorbed within the County’s existing Road Fund budget.

“This decision reflects a thoughtful approach to addressing ongoing issues in the Santa Susana Pass area,” said Fourth District Supervisor Janice Parvin. “We have heard from residents about safety and environmental impacts, and this measured restriction allows us to mitigate those concerns while preserving appropriate access to the roadway.”

County staff will proceed with installing signage to notify the public of the new overnight parking restrictions. Enforcement of the new parking restrictions will be coordinated with the California Highway Patrol.

For more information, residents may contact the Ventura County Public Works Agency Roads & Transportation at (805) 654-2077.

Ventura, Calif. – The Ventura County Board of Supervisors, during their regular meeting on March 3, adopted a resolution establishing overnight parking restrictions along a portion of Santa Susana Pass […]

[6

post-2960","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
