VENTURA, Calif. \u2013 The County of Ventura has been recognized with a top honor from the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO), receiving an Excellence in Public Information and Communications (EPIC) Award in the \u201cAnnual Reports\u201d category for its 2023 Annual Report<\/a>.<\/p>

The award was presented during CAPIO\u2019s 2025 Annual Conference, which celebrated outstanding work in government communications for print and digital assets created by public information officials in 2024. The County of Ventura\u2019s 2023 Annual Report took home top honors in the category. Overall, CAPIO received over 500 entries from public agencies throughout California, including cities, counties, special districts, and state departments for the more than 30 awards categories.<\/p>

\u201cCommunity education and transparency are top priorities for the County of Ventura, and our Annual Report is one way we can both inform the public and recognize the important work taking place across 25 agencies and departments that provide critical services to our residents,\u201d stated Dr. Sevet Johnson, County Executive Officer. \u201cWe are proud to have those commitments to our community recognized through this award.\u201d<\/p>

The County of Ventura\u2019s 2023 Annual Report showcases the County\u2019s major initiatives, public services, and fiscal stewardship, while also offering a compelling look into Ventura County\u2019s unique history. Designed with residents in mind, the report aims to inform, engage, and highlight how public resources are being put to work and benefit the community.<\/p>

The California Association of Public Information Officials, founded in 1971, is the leading statewide organization dedicated to advancing public sector communicators across all levels of government. CAPIO\u2019s EPIC Awards program honors the most creative and effective efforts in government communications, including campaigns, digital media, print publications, photography, events, and more.<\/p>
