The appointment was made following an expansive search which included strong internal and external candidates. Mullane succeeds Kim Prillhart who is retiring from County service on March 30th after 26 years of service, the last 5 of which she served as director for RMA. <\/p><p>\u201cRobert has a strong track record with community engagement and streamlining permitting processes, making him the ideal candidate for the role,\u201d said Dr. Sevet Johnson, County Executive Officer. \u201cHis experience working up and down the Central Coast will lend the expertise necessary to navigate complex land use issues in our region and his deep knowledge of planning and development in our state will support our residents and the best interests of our county.\u201d <\/p><p>Mullane brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into his new role as director of the Resource Management Agency. He will oversee planning, building &amp; safety, and environmental health, and direct the enforcement of laws and ordinances regulating land use, zoning, and environmental protection. The Resource Management Agency works to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public through administration and enforcement of County ordinances, Board policy, and state and federal laws regarding land use, and commercial and environmental regulation. <\/p><p>\u201cI am honored to have the opportunity to work for the County of Ventura in this capacity,\u201d said Mullane. \u201cI look forward to working with the Resource Management Agency team, as well as the County administration, Board of Supervisors, and community to ensure that RMA is providing exceptional service and carrying forth the goals and objectives of the organization and of the County.\u201d<\/p><p>Throughout his career, Mullane has served in public works, community development, and parks and recreation along the Central Coast. His municipal government career spans 27 years and includes the County of Maui, County of Santa Barbara, City of Goleta, City of Ojai, and the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea. His leadership positions include serving as the Community Development Director for the City of Ojai and as both the Public Works Director and the Community Planning and Building Director at the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea. <\/p><p>Currently a resident of Templeton, Mullane holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in Geology from Duke University and a master\u2019s degree in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Hawaii. He is a certified planner with the American Planning Association and a member of the Public Sector Human Resources Association. Mullane has also served as a Planning Commissioner and Parks and Recreation Commissioner with the City of Buellton, and on the Board of Directors for the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center.
