{"id":2247,"date":"2022-08-24T12:32:06","date_gmt":"2022-08-24T19:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.venturacounty.gov\/?p=2247"},"modified":"2022-08-24T12:44:40","modified_gmt":"2022-08-24T19:44:40","slug":"continuity-of-county-government-as-we-mourn-the-passing-of-chair-ramirez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.venturacounty.gov\/en\/continuity-of-county-government-as-we-mourn-the-passing-of-chair-ramirez\/","title":{"rendered":"Continuity of County Government As We Mourn the Passing of Chair Ramirez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Interim County Executive Officer Dr. Sevet Johnson has formally notified Governor Gavin Newsom of Supervisor Ramirez\u2019s tragic passing.\u00a0 Per State Law addressing vacancies of elected County Supervisors during their terms, Supervisor Ramirez\u2019s District 5 seat on the Board of Supervisors will be filled by an appointment from the\u00a0Governor.\u00a0 Any\u00a0registered voter residing in District 5, using the 2011 supervisorial district boundaries, is eligible to apply online through the Governor\u2019s website\u00a0at <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.ca.gov\/appointments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gov.ca.gov\/appointments<\/a>.\u00a0There is no set timeframe for such appointment to be made by the Governor. The Governor\u2019s appointee would serve as Supervisor until voters choose a Supervisor for District 5 in the November 2024 general election, using the 2021 supervisorial district boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>The next meeting of the Board of Supervisors is scheduled for September 13<sup>th<\/sup>, 2022.
