📢Ventura County–based artists are invited to submit proposals for the Moon Ditch Mural Project through January 31, 2026, via the Studio Channel Islands website. The project will result in one of the largest murals in Ventura County, featuring original designs by local artists developed in collaboration with the community.
The mural will be painted inside the Moon Ditch Flood Control Channel, located near Highway 101, the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, and Leland Street by the Ventura Auto Center. As part of the VibeWell Ventura County Arts and Mental Health initiative, the artwork will explore themes of clean water, community wellbeing, and mental health.

If you’re mailing a payment or important documents to the County of Ventura such as property tax payments, permit applications, or any other paperwork, please be aware of new U.S. Postal Service postmark rules.

📬 What’s Changed?
USPS postmarks now reflect the date mail is first processed by postal machines **NOT** the date it’s dropped in a mailbox.

⏰ This means mailing something on the due date may no longer guarantee an on-time postmark.

This applies to ANY County department with deadlines for submitting paperwork and/or payments.

To avoid penalties:
✔ Take your mail inside the Post Office and request a manual postmark
✔ Mail payments and documents **early**
✔ Hand-deliver when possible
✔ Use online payment options when available

Payments or documents postmarked AFTER the due date will be considered late and may incur penalties.

The Board honored the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of Ventura County in celebration of the 40th Annual MLK Day Celebration held in Oxnard, marking four decades of service, reflection, and community unity.

Another proclamation recognized National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, highlighting the tireless work of local organizations and partners dedicated to preventing trafficking, supporting survivors, and educating our community, including Interface Children & Family Services, the Ventura County Sheriff`s Office as well as the Soroptimist International of Simi Valley and Soroptimist International of Oxnard.
