💜A Purple Heart Monument that was formerly located at Naval Base Ventura County has been relocated to the Veterans Memorial at the Ventura County Government Center, creating a more visible and accessible place for the community to honor service members wounded or killed in combat.
The relocation was made possible through a partnership between the County of Ventura and Naval Base Ventura County, with donated services from local contractors and veterans’ supporters resulting in no cost to the County.
The monument is located along the pedestrian walking path at the Ventura County Government Center at 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura.

Una asociación entre el Condado de Ventura y la Base Naval del Condado de Ventura ha permitido la exitosa reubicación e instalación del monumento de la Orden Militar de la Corazón Púrpura en el Memorial de Veteranos del Centro de Gobierno del Condado de Ventura, creando un espacio público destacado para honrar a los miembros del servicio heridos o caídos en combate.El monumento, ubicado originalmente en el campo de golf de la Base Naval del Condado de Ventura, reconoce a los recipientes de la Corazón Púrpura; sin embargo, su ubicación ofrecía visibilidad limitada para la comunidad en general. Para ampliar el acceso público, la Orden Militar de la Corazón Púrpura ofreció donar el monumento al Condado para que pudiera ser trasladado a un lugar más accesible.

The funding will support programs that connect people to housing and services, including rental assistance, rapid rehousing, outreach to youth experiencing homelessness, motel vouchers, and other supportive services that help people regain stability.

The investment reflects continued collaboration between the County, cities, and community partners working together to advance long-term solutions to homelessness in Ventura County.

El Condado de Ventura y el Continuum of Care del Condado de Ventura han recibido $5.6 millones a través de la Ronda 6 del programa de Vivienda, Asistencia y Prevención para Personas sin Hogar de California (HHAP por sus siglas en inglés), una iniciativa estatal destinada a apoyar estrategias regionales para prevenir y poner fin a la indigencia. La adjudicación fue anunciada el 2 de marzo por el gobernador Gavin Newsom y el Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Comunitario de California (HCD por sus siglas en inglés). El Condado de Ventura fue una de las 20 regiones de todo el estado incluidas en esta última ronda de financiamiento.

El Condado de Ventura y el Continuum of Care del Condado de Ventura destinarán la mayor parte de estos fondos a soluciones de vivienda permanente, incluyendo prevención y desvío de la indigencia, realojamiento rápido, asistencia para el pago de alquiler, servicios de apoyo y retención de vivienda, inversiones de capital, vales para moteles y divulgación comunitaria para jóvenes que experimentan la indigencia sin refugio.

🎨 We’re excited to reveal the lead artist for the Moon Ditch Mural, set to become Ventura County’s largest public art project. Elisa Torres will guide the creation by transforming a highly visible stretch along Highway 101 into a vibrant community landmark that highlights environmental awareness, mental health, and connection.
The project supports working artists, engages local youth, and turns everyday infrastructure into a space that reflects community pride and creativity.

Community members will have multiple opportunities to participate as the project moves forward, including design input sessions, volunteer opportunities, and community paint days. The project will also track its impact on sense of place, social connection, and community wellbeing.

Funded through Ventura County Behavioral Health, the Mental Health Services Act, and private donations.

#flashbackfriday Earlier this week, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors presented a proclamation in honor of the 2025 Ventura High School Cougars for winning the CIF Southern Section Division 6 Football Championship.

Moments like these remind us that youth sports are about more than what happens on the field. These student athletes demonstrate dedication, teamwork, and perseverance while also balancing the demands of school and maintaining their academic commitments.

The County of Ventura is proud to celebrate young leaders in our community who set a positive example through hard work, discipline, and excellence both in the classroom and in competition. Congratulations to the Cougars on an incredible season! 🏈👏
