WHAT: The County of Ventura invites the public to take part in upcoming Community Paint Days for the Moon Ditch Mural, a landmark public art project transforming a nearly mile-long flood control channel into one of the largest murals in the region. The mural explores the intersection of healthy environments, community connections, and how together they support mental health and wellbeing.
WHO: Community members ages 12 and up (all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) will have the opportunity to work alongside the team of local artists and contribute directly to this highly visible and collaborative art installation. Food and limited-edition t-shirts will be available for participants, courtesy of project sponsors, while supplies last.
WHEN: May 9 & May 16, 2026 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (1-hour shifts available)
WHERE: Moon Ditch Mural Project Site Lealand Street and Hofer Drive (near the Ventura Auto Center Sign) Ventura, CA 93003
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Advanced registration, RSVP, and waiver required. Registration and additional details at: https://studiochannelislands.org/moon-ditch/. The site map and parking details will be sent with registration confirmation. For residents who can’t make a community paint day, a special community workshop will be held at Vita Art Center (28 W Main St, Ventura, CA 93001) on May 2, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. to learn more about the mural and work collaboratively on a scaled version featuring the elements of the full design.
