Simi Valley, CA — A routine probation contact conducted by the Ventura County Probation Agency (VCPA) resulted in the dismantling of a large‑scale narcotics manufacturing and trafficking operation spanning Orange, Los Angeles, and Ventura Counties. The investigation ultimately led to the seizure of approximately $2.1 million in illegal drugs and currency.

On Friday, May 29th, at approximately 1:00 PM, Ventura County Probation Agency Deputy Probation Officer coordinated with the Simi Valley Police Department to contact probationer Jason Klausmeyer, 45, of San Clemente. Klausmeyer had arrived in the 3800 block of Alamo Street for a scheduled probation appointment, driven by April Baird, 39, also of San Clemente.

As part of Klausmeyer’s probation terms, officers conducted a search of the vehicle registered to him. During this search, officers located approximately two kilograms of ketamine and $8,000 in U.S. currency. Both Klausmeyer and Baird were immediately arrested for possession and transportation of ketamine for sales.

The discovery by DPO and the PROS Officer triggered a broader investigation. Detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit responded and authored a search warrant for the suspects’ San Clemente residence and associated storage units. That evening, detectives—supported by partner agencies—executed the warrant and seized:

  • 85,000 counterfeit Adderall pills (methamphetamine)
  • 25,000 Ecstasy pills (MDMA)
  • 30 pounds of ketamine
  • 1 pound of fentanyl
  • 7 pounds of cocaine
  • 10 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms
  • $13,505 in U.S. currency
  • $13,750 in gold and silver

Preliminary findings indicate the suspects were involved in manufacturing illicit drugs at their residence and distributing large quantities throughout Southern California.

Both suspects were booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for violations of 11351 H&S, 11378 H&S, 11379 H&S, 11379.2 H&S, and 182 PC.

This case underscores the critical role probation officers play in community safety. DPO’s vigilance, field expertise, and proactive decision‑making were the catalyst for uncovering a major narcotics pipeline. Her actions exemplify the Ventura County Probation Agency’s commitment to protecting the public through diligent supervision and interagency collaboration.

The Ventura County Probation Agency extends its appreciation to the Simi Valley Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Costa Mesa Police Department for their coordinated efforts in this investigation.
