10th Annual Farm Day Coming to Ventura County on November 5th

The 10th Annual Ventura County Farm Day is slated for Saturday, November 5, and will feature more than 15 farms, ranches, and agricultural organizations throughout the county.

With a theme to “Meet All The Hands That Feed You,” this year’s event will allow visitors the opportunity to visit each location and to map out their day by viewing the Farm Day Trail Map. Each site will offer tours and demonstrations that are free and open to the public.

Included in this year’s tour will be the Ventura County Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures located at 815 E. Santa Barbara Street in Santa Paula. Demonstrations of the Department’s various programs and divisions will be held every 30 minutes, on the hour and on the half, and will include:

            10:00 am: Pest Exclusion, Terminal Inspections

            10:30 am: Bee Health and Safety

            11:00 am: Citrus Maturity

            11:30 am: Pesticide Use Enforcement, Application Inspections

            12:00 pm: Pollinator Gardens

            12:30 pm: Weights & Measures, Scale, Liquid Measurement, & Package Inspections

            1:00 pm: Pesticide Use Enforcement, Rodenticide Bait Stations

            1:30 pm: Plant Inspections

            2:00 pm: iNaturalist, Native and Invasive Plant Identification & Mapping

            2:30 pm: Insect Trapping Programs

Ventura County Farm Day is organized by the nonprofit Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG). SEEAG’s mission is to educate students and the greater community about the farm origins of our food and agriculture’s contribution to our nutritional well-being.
